Chickamauga City Schools
Gordon Lee High School Strategic Plan 2023-2024

 

Goal 1: Increase the percentage of students at level 3 and 4 in ELA, math, science, and social studies by 3% as measured by the Georgia Milestones Assessment in 2024.
                Action Steps:

  1. Implement learning obtained from PLCs and professional learning to change teaching practices to increase DOK and rigor.
  2. All teachers will provide opportunities for remediations, enrichment and differentiation for students in class and out of class including after school tutoring. Teachers should include and post when available (days, before school, after school, etc.)
  3. Teachers will continue to integrate technology and other digital resources into student learning experiences in every unit.
  4. Students will have opportunities to improve scores by retaking standardized tests and by attending remediation sessions.
  5. Continue implementation of pre and post test data and proficiency charts to better track student progress using formative assessments.
  6. Recognition of and rewards for students who score in distinguished level on EOC.
  7. Utilize the Georgia Frameworks for instructional planning.
  8. Utilize the systemwide lesson planning format.
  9. Provide after school tutoring opportunities. 

Goal 2: During the 2023-2024 school year, all teachers and leaders will participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
                Action Steps:

  1. Teachers/leaders meet during the school day once per month and as department once per month which gives an opportunity to meet for discussion.
  2. Implement cross-curricular PLC meetings.
  3. Teachers will rotate the lead role in hosting PLCs.

Goal 3: Improve communication and strengthen school, family, and community partnerships.
                Action Steps:

  1. Increase and improve use of social media for academics and school activities.
  2. On the website, make the instructions for Infinite Campus simple and streamlined.
  3. Teachers will document all parent contact in contact log in Infinite Campus.
  4. Use notification system through the guidance department and through the school notification system for parents and students.
  5. Strengthen business partnerships by adding members to advisory boards, using business members as classroom resources.
  6. Continue to use of YouScience as a career guidance tool.
  7. School council will meet a minimum of two times per school year.
  8. Teachers will update grades in Infinite Campus at least one time per week with a minimum of two grades.

Goal 4: Promote a positive and safe school climate conducive to learning in order to educate the whole child and ensure all students achieve academic success.
                Action Steps:

  1. Regular lockdown drills using different scenarios.
  2. Safety/Emergency committee should have regular meetings.
  3. Safety committee will conduct safety checks and walk throughs.
  4. Annually review and update school emergency plan.
  5. Clearly identified roles in the emergency plan.
  6. Implementation of Sielox system.
  7. Continue to hold students accountable if they are not following the code of conduct.
  8. Continuation of high school transition class for all freshmen to increase study skills, test prep, and positive work ethics.
  9. Increase school-wide student recognition for academics including SAT/ACT scores and extra-curricular achievements.
  10. Increase recognition of all students with a decision signing day for seniors and increased social media highlights for all students.
  11. Positive office referrals to reward students for exceptional behavior.
