About GLHS

Gordon Lee High School is located in Chickamauga, Georgia, a small community in Walker County, near the Tennessee border in Northwest Georgia. It is the high school component of the Chickamauga City Schools District.

Since the initial construction of the Main Building, Tom Lee Building, and Olive Lee Building in 1930, there have been additions of the Ware-Jewell Activities Center, which consists of a gymnasium and classrooms, a technology lab building, and the Arthur Yates Building, which houses science and math classrooms. Gordon Lee High School shares a cafeteria and band room with Gordon Lee Middle School. Those facilities were added when the middle school was constructed in 1991. In 2017, construction was completed of a new facility that now encompasses the classrooms from the Main Building, Tom Lee Building and Olive Lee Building. Architecturally, the look of the building remains the same, but the new facility allows state of the art technology and up-to-date classrooms in academic and career and technical areas. The following year an additional classroom building was built which houses the agricultural science program and is a shared facility with middle school science lab classrooms.

Gordon Lee High School has a long tradition of excellence in the areas of academics, athletics, extra-curricular activities, citizenship and character development, and leadership. Although the area of academics is more important than any other, it is the philosophy of the school that each must be significant in the lives of our students. We continually strive to develop well-rounded students who graduate prepared for post-secondary and the workforce.
