Chickamauga Junior Council

The Chickamauga Junior Council is an exciting opportunity for high school students to get involved in their community and learn more about local government.

The Junior Council serves three primary purposes:

  • Provide a voice for the city’s youth by allowing students to share their perspectives on community issues, policies, and goals.
  • Educate students about local government by giving them the opportunity to learn how city leadership works and to develop an appreciation for their community and its facilities.
  • Develop leadership skills by helping students gain experience as future community leaders while participating in projects and helping organize events.

There is no cost to join the Chickamauga Junior Council. Students must complete an application and obtain a teacher recommendation. Throughout the year, the Junior Council also participates in field trips and activities, most of which have little to no cost.

This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in leadership, community involvement, and learning more about how their city works.
