National Honor Society (NHS)

Membership in the National Honor Society is open to grades 10-12 and is a four-part process. Part one is based on students' academics; eligible students must have a 90+ GPA and no final grade below an 85. Part two is centered around leadership, which is considered to be anytime a student represents the school in a positive fashion (sports, band, clubs, etc.). Part three involves students' community service; students should complete 20 or more hours of community service per school year. The community service can be in conjunction with a school group, outside group, or individually. Eligibility based on parts two and three will be determined by a group of teachers known as the faculty council, which is made up of 5 teachers. Part four involves evaluating students' characters; the faculty rates an eligible student’s character on a 4-point scale, and students must average a 3 or higher.
